Livingston County Arrest History
The Livingston County Sheriff's Office handles law enforcement in unincorporated areas and communities without their own police. Chillicothe Police Department handles city incidents. Missouri State Highway Patrol may create the report when a trooper investigates or makes an arrest. The arresting agency keeps its own report, even when another office manages the booking or later court case.
An arrest history can combine incident reports and booking events from more than one date. It is not the same as a list of convictions. The contracted detention facility records intake details. The prosecutor decides whether to file a charge, the Circuit Clerk keeps the resulting judicial file, and Missouri State Highway Patrol CJIS receives reportable statewide criminal-history data. Comparing dates and custodians helps keep those Livingston County arrest records in the right order.
Livingston County 48-Hour Arrest View
The Livingston County roster gateway is the best first official stop for a recent local arrest. A visitor must accept an accuracy disclaimer before choosing Current Inmates or 48 Hour Release. The gateway is browse-based and does not show a name, date-of-birth, or booking-number search form. A profile can show the booking number and date, identifying details, arresting agency, intake charge, bond, and actual housing facility where entered.
The two choices serve different time points. Current Inmates covers active custody shown by the sheriff, while 48 Hour Release helps after a person has left that current list.
Save the booking number, booking date, arresting agency, charge, bond, and housing line when shown. The roster is convenience information, not a certified arrest history. A missing entry may mean release, transfer, timing, spelling, or a record outside the short display window. Call the sheriff's 24-hour number when status must be confirmed.
Looking Up Livingston County Arrests
A complete Livingston County arrest lookup follows the event from current custody to the agency report, court filing, and state repository when needed. No single screen contains every part. Start with the shortest-lived source, then move toward the more lasting file.
- Check the official Current Inmates and 48 Hour Release choices, then note the actual holding facility.
- Identify the arresting agency and request its incident or arrest report. Use the sheriff, Chillicothe Police, or MSHP route that matches the event.
- Search Missouri Case.net under Livingston County after charges may have been filed, then read each count and outcome.
- Use MACHS for Missouri State Highway Patrol CJIS open repository history, knowing that a name result is only a possible match.
- Submit a narrow Missouri Sunshine request when a needed public booking or agency record is not shown online, and ask about fees and delivery first.
VINELink can add custody-change notifications. Missouri DOC Offender Search is the better route after a court sends someone to state custody. Neither is a substitute for the originating report or the Livingston County court case.
Livingston County Contracted Arrest Housing
Livingston County has no operating county jail. Its former jail closed on December 31, 2012 after needed repairs lacked funding. The old facility had 48 beds and ten cell areas. A 2022 sheriff estimate placed the annual cost of reopening for men only at about $1.4 million before renovations, with 15 full-time and two part-time detention staff needed. A new 100-bed jail was estimated above $30 million.
The official Livingston County detention explanation says detainees are housed mainly at Caldwell County Detention Center. Daviess-DeKalb Regional Jail receives some overflow, conflict, and change-of-venue detainees.
The housing line beside a charge is therefore a key Livingston County booking field. It identifies the facility that controls visits, calls, mail, deposits, and physical release logistics.
The Sheriff's Office at 901 Webster Street is an administrative office, not a visitation site. Chillicothe Correctional Center is also not the county jail. It is a state women's prison under Missouri DOC. Searching that state institution for a person booked locally that morning uses the wrong custody system.
Inside a Livingston County Arrest Record
An agency arrest report and a jail booking profile overlap, but they are not interchangeable. The report may contain the occurrence date, time, location, officer, incident number, probable-cause account, allegation codes, evidence, and transport destination. A Livingston County booking entry focuses on intake and custody.
| Booking Number | A local intake identifier that helps distinguish one custody event from another. |
|---|---|
| Booking Date and Time | Marks intake, which may precede any prosecutor-filed court charge. |
| Arresting Agency | Points to the office that keeps the originating report. |
| Intake Charge | States the allegation recorded at booking, not a finding of guilt. |
| Bond | Shows bond information when the roster profile contains it. |
| Profile Photo | May appear on the official roster profile; no photo proves guilt. |
| Housing Facility | Names the contracted site holding the Livingston County detainee. |
| Release Status | Current and 48-hour views help show recent changes but are not permanent history. |
Keep each value tied to its source and date. A charge on the roster may later be changed or not filed. The court file supplies the filed count and disposition, while MACHS follows the repository's separate open-record rules.
Livingston County Arrest Agency Routes
Request an arrest report from the agency that investigated. The sheriff does not control every Chillicothe Police or MSHP report, and the Circuit Clerk does not keep an officer's original narrative. A precise request names the incident or arrest, date range, location, report or booking number if known, desired format, and requester's contact information.
| Agency | Livingston County record role | Official route |
|---|---|---|
| Livingston County Sheriff | Sheriff arrest reports, booking details, roster, and housing location | 901 Webster Street; 660-646-0515 |
| Chillicothe Police | Police incidents and arrests within Chillicothe | 624 Cherry Street; 660-646-2121; official request form |
| Missouri State Highway Patrol | Patrol-originated arrests, investigations, and qualifying crash records | MSHP public-record routing page |
| Circuit Clerk | Filed charge, docket, judgment, and sentence | 700 Webster Street; 660-646-8000 ext. 305 |
| MSHP CJIS | Statewide open criminal-history product | MACHS portal; 573-526-6312 |
The MSHP public-record routing page directs Patrol record requests to the proper unit.
This source is most useful when MSHP made the arrest or investigated the event. It is not the route for a sheriff or city police narrative.
Livingston County Patrol Arrest Records
An MSHP arrest or investigation can leave a Patrol report and a later Livingston County court file. Request the originating Patrol record through MSHP. Then use Case.net only after the prosecutor files a public charge. This avoids asking the Circuit Clerk for an officer narrative the clerk does not hold.
For Patrol crash context, the preliminary injury and fatal crash search offers county, troop, location, date, injury type, and incident-number criteria.
That crash tool covers preliminary Patrol-investigated crashes for one year. It does not function as a general Livingston County arrest database.
Booking Logs and Recent Arrests
The sheriff roster provides current-custody and 48-hour-release views. The separate Livingston County sheriff activity releases add dated, official summaries with category and year controls. Those narratives may discuss an arrest, warrant service, transport, citation, or investigation.
The release index offers useful dates and context, but editorial selection keeps it from being a complete Livingston County arrest log.
Silence in a press release does not show that no arrest occurred. Likewise, removal from Current Inmates does not erase the booking. Check the 48 Hour Release choice, call the sheriff when status matters, request the correct agency report, and search Case.net after a filing may exist. The official roster disclaimer also means its display should not be treated as certified proof.
Requesting Livingston County Arrest Reports
The sheriff's current Forms page does not publish a dedicated arrest-report form or fee schedule. Contact the Livingston County Sheriff's Office at 901 Webster Street, Chillicothe, Missouri 64601. Administration is 660-646-0515, office hours are Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., and 660-646-2121 is the 24-hour dispatch and non-emergency number.
Under the Missouri Sunshine Law, ask for a defined record rather than “all criminal records.” Include an incident, booking, release, or report type; approximate date and place; known identifiers; preferred delivery format; and whether an ordinary or certified copy is needed. Ask whether the sheriff is the custodian, what lawful redactions apply, and what the fee estimate will be. No local published fee, identification rule, or turnaround was found.

Chillicothe Police uses its own records-request form for city police reports. The form asks for requester details, proof of identification, and inquiry information, but it does not publish a fee or turnaround. Call the department to confirm cost, delivery, and current submission instructions. If MSHP investigated, use the Patrol route instead.
Livingston County Arrest Data Flow
The arresting officer creates the incident and arrest report. The contracted jail creates booking, fingerprint, photo, and custody data. The prosecutor reviews the allegations and determines what to file. The Circuit Clerk keeps the case, and a reportable disposition later reaches Missouri State Highway Patrol CJIS. This chain explains why the Livingston County roster, Case.net, and MACHS can differ without one being wrong.
Record flow: Officer Report › Contracted Jail Booking › Charging Decision › Livingston County Court File › CJIS Update
MACHS public name search can return convictions, arrests less than 30 days old, pending prosecutor-filed charges, and a suspended imposition of sentence while probation remains active. It excludes closed Missouri records and FBI records. The $15 name result is an identifier-based possible match, not fingerprint-confirmed identity. It works best as a state repository view, not as a replacement for a detailed local report.
Note: Identify each Livingston County arrest record by source and date before trying to reconcile a roster charge with a later court result.
Arrests Are Not Convictions
A Livingston County arrest record shows that an agency alleged grounds for an arrest and that a booking may have occurred. It does not establish guilt. A conviction comes only from the court process. The prosecutor's filed charge can differ from the intake allegation, and a filed count can later be amended, dismissed, resolved by plea, or tried.
| Point | Arrest record | Conviction record |
|---|---|---|
| Creator | Arresting agency and booking facility | Livingston County court |
| Meaning | An arrest or intake event was recorded | The court entered a finding and judgment |
| Main source | Agency report, roster, booking record | Case.net and Circuit Clerk file |
| Possible ending | Release, no filing, or later court action | Sentence, appeal, or lawful record closure |
Note: An arrest is not proof of guilt, and the final court disposition must be checked before describing the outcome of any charge.
The filed case and sentence belong in the Livingston County criminal court records, not in the short roster view. Read both only when the question calls for both stages.
